Version 6.0 has been Carbonized to run on Apples new operating system. Or perhaps it’s just a bookkeeping oversight. Timbuktu is the remote control and file transfer software for the Mac operating system. Machines running versions below 10.14.5 do not support Java 17, so the game is unable to run on. We updated our codebase for Caves & Cliffs Part II to Java 17, which had an inadvertent effect on users playing on MacOS versions below 10.14.5. Perhaps some GUI parsing code needs a predictable string. Minecraft: Java Edition versions later than 1.18 are no longer supported on Mac OS below version 10.14.5. Perhaps Apple, internally, has always thought of and labelled its BSD UNIX-based Mac operating system as “Mac OS X” in this layer. The enduring reference to “Mac OS X” is fascinating.
